Services Available

Our services are open to anyone who needs clothing to help them move to employment or independence.  We require appointments for our services so that we can help you find the perfect outfit for your needs.

Clothing is free to those in need because as a nonprofit, we are supported by government partners, foundations, and individuals. We are also open to shoppers and every item sold in our stores helps to keep our services free for someone who cannot afford to pay.

Appointments are available in person or online, and open to anyone in the Greater Philadelphia Region.  When you request an appointment, you will be asked to choose the type of clothing you need:

  • Professional clothing for a job search and interview
  • Business casual attire for your new job
  • Special attire such as scrubs or non-skid shoes for a specific industry or training program
  • Casual clothing to fill your closet after suffering a setback such as overcoming trauma, abuse, crisis, or after incarceration

Appointment & Services FAQ

Who Qualifies for an Appointment?

Just about anyone! Typically, The Wardrobe helps anyone referred through one of our Referral Partners. These partners are nonprofit or government programs that assist people transitioning to work and independence.

But during this crisis, The Wardrobe recognizes that many in our community are suddenly out of work. We want to help anyone in need, so we are opening our services up to anyone… no referral required!

Services for individuals without an agency referral are made possible through generous donations to our outFIT for Work Fund.  You can help us provide more clothing to more people by posting online about your experience with a link to our fundraising page.

What’s a Referral Partner?

The Wardrobe works with a network of Referral Partners to assist people with the clothing they need.  Partners can be government, nonprofit, or educational institutions and sign up for annual memberships based on a sliding scale.

  • PA WORKWEAR Program for people receiving TANF Assistance

What Should I Expect During My Appointment?

In Person:  Please arrive on time and without any guests (children, partners, friends – unless they want to shop during your appointment!).  Due to COVID19 health and safety measures The Wardrobe is limited to 10 people in store at a time, and guests are required to wear masks and maintain 6’ social distancing.  You are welcome to try on clothing, but anything not selected will be sanitized before being returned to our sales floor.

Online:  Each Consultation is a 30-minute call or video chat using Google Hangout with a The Wardrobe expert. During the consultation, we will discuss your clothing needs, style preferences, and get your size/measurements so that we can put together a Wardrobe Box to send you

What Is a Wardrobe Box?

Think of a personalized image consultation in your own home merged with “Stitch Fix.”  After your online consultation, our personal stylists will put together a box of items that are your size and meet your needs as discussed on your call.  Wardrobe Boxes are mailed to you and cannot be returned or exchanged.  If your items do not fit, please contact us and we will do our best to find something that does!

Do I Have to Pay Anything?

No!  Our services are completely free to anyone who signs up for a consultation or receives a referral through one of our existing Referral Partners.

Services for individuals without a referral are made possible through generous donations to our outFIT for Work Fund.  You can help us reach our goal by posting online about your experience and linking to our fundraising page –
