On Monday, January 27, 2014, 30 women will gather at Career Wardrobe to receive makeovers to create and enhance their professional image both in person and online. Work It! will be a day dedicated to women who are unemployed or underemployed and want assistance in their job search, including networking skills. This event for many of the ladies will be a start to a new beginning. Maybe you are taking a similar path in your life. Let’s make sure that you are well-prepared and fashion-forward with these six work-ready garments.

  • Pop colors  – A splash of a bright color can accent your style and highlight your personality (candy apple red, turquoise blue, seaform green, and pink)
  • Button ups – A collared button-up blouse is the perfect layer for a power suit (slightly raise the collar to accent your neckline)
  • Pastel blouses – A neutral colored/earth tone blouse coordinates well with a bold print or solid colored suit
  • Tea-length skirts – Directly below the knee is the appropriate cut for the workplace (add pleats for flair)
  • Cropped jackets – Elevate your sense of fashion with a ¾ cut on a classic fashion staple (compliments short and petite women)
  • Little black dress – Goes with everything, perfect for wearing during and after work hours

Now that you have your checklist for the six must-have items for a work-ready wardrobe, you can enter the office today with a new sense of empowerment and shine like the true career fashionista you are.
