The You+ series explores how Philadelphia-based organizations are leveraging the talents and skills of people 50+ made possible by Coming of Age.
With the rapidly expanding technologies in today’s nonprofit stratosphere — including the digitization of documents, reduced use of mail and fax, and social media — it might seem like reality is stacked against older volunteers.
However, people 45 and older make up 46% of Facebook users, just one quick statistic that proves this population can hold their own in a changing landscape.
Temple University’s Coming of Age initiative, with financial support from The Philadelphia Foundation, will promote older nonprofit volunteers by choosing four people over the age of 50 to serve as stipended Encore Volunteer Managers at Greater Philadelphia organizations beginning in April.
