We accept both individual and volunteer groups at The Wardrobe. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Saturday from 11am-5pm at both Wardrobe locations in Philadelphia and Lansdowne. Volunteer shifts typically last about two hours. Many of our volunteers commit to a weekly timeframe whereas others come as needed or when they can.
The Wardrobe offers several types of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. Please read through the opportunities below. If you have a special volunteer skill that you believe would be of service to us, please email Volunteer@WardrobePA.org.
When you volunteer at The Wardrobe, not only can you look forward to helping a great cause, but you will also receive a special shopping discount as a thank you from us for your time!
Safety remains our top priority. All in-person volunteers will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (i.e. digital or paper record) during their first shift or orientation. The Wardrobe will not keep copies of these records. Any volunteer working in the boutique with clients must wear a face-mask.
Inventory Volunteer: Training provided on-site during first shift
Help us process clothing donations to fill our stores and outfit our clients! Volunteer shifts will begin with a brief overview of The Wardrobe and training on the inventory processing needed at that time, i.e. organizing donations, hanging clothing, processing items for the floor, and other tasks as needed.
Program Volunteer: Pre-training is required. Training occurs once a month on Zoom. Visit the RSVP link for dates and details
If you are available to volunteer regularly, we encourage you to become a Program Services Volunteer. These volunteers work one-on-one with our clients to select clothing and assist with store operations. The training includes information about The Wardrobe, the clients we serve, the importance of clothing, how to conduct a client appointment, and volunteer expectations and process.
Upon completion, information on how to sign up for your shift will be provided.
Group Volunteers: Training provided on-site during first shift
We can accommodate volunteer groups of up to 5 people. We cannot accommodate larger groups but you may block multiple shifts throughout the day to rotate new volunteers in (5 people from 12-2pm, 5 people replace them from 2-4pm etc.)
Volunteer groups assist with prep for Open Wardrobe events, organize our inventory spaces, write encouragement cards, assist with our monthly clothing drive in Upper Darby and other tasks as needed.
If your company is interested in reserving a specific day for your team to volunteer, we ask for a donation of $250.
