How to Donate
Clothes & Toiletries

It’s hard to believe but we’re already accepting fall and winter donations! While we can accept all types of donations any time of year, we especially need the following types of clothes for our guests: sweaters, fall and winter coats/jackets, winter accessories such as thick socks, hats, gloves, and scarves, long sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweat pants, boots and sturdy shoes. Clothes made of: wool, fleece, merino, leather, corduroy, cashmere, denim and faux fur are great for this time of year.

Clothing donations are accepted at the Philadelphia and Upper Darby stores Monday – Saturday from 11am-6pm.

Please review our guidelines before donating.

What can I donate?

The Wardrobe needs more than professional clothing to help outfit people for work and everyday life.  We accept donations of clothing, accessories, and footwear for all genders to make them look and feel great. Because we are also a resale store, we accept anything you have to donate whether it be comfy, casual, professional, or dressy attire.

We ask that items be new or gently used as well as FRESHLY washed and packaged in some way (i.e. bags, boxes). Makeup or other personal care items (skincare, toiletries, undergarments) are accepted, but must be new and unused.

Are you a retailer with overstock or end of season items? We’d love to take clothing, accessories, or personal care items off your hands. Contact us to discuss your donation.

Where can I donate?

The Wardrobe Upper Darby:  62 W. Marshall Road, Lansdowne, PA 19050

The Wardrobe Philadelphia:  413 N. 4th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123

Can’t get to us during our donation hours?  Fill a box and ship your donations to The Wardrobe, 444 N. 3rd St. Suite 105, Philadelphia, PA 19123.

  • Larger Donations: Please make an appointment for a time to drop off your donations in Philadelphia or Upper Darby
  • Helpsy Home Pick-Ups: Cleaning out a loved one’s closet? Moving across the country? Getting rid of your former fashion after a life change? New Free Pickups in Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery Counties Benefit The Wardrobe benefiting The Wardrobe.

Please note that if you are moving or have an estate that you need to donate, The Wardrobe is likely not the best fit for your donation. Large donations that are clustered around 1-2 sizes are hard for us to use and will likely be donated to other organizations.

  • Corporate Drives, Community Events or Retail Donations: Large drives or retail donations that bring in a range of sizes, styles, and clothing for all genders are perfect for filling our Wardrobe.

If you want to host a large donation drive for The Wardrobe, we’d love to partner with you, but need to know a bit more about what you are planning.

Partnership with Helpsy to eliminate fashion waste

The Wardrobe is partnered with Helpsy, a for-profit B Corp with an environmental mission to radically change the way people think about clothing recycling. Helpsy helps us upcycle the clothing that we cannot use (items with holes or stains or items that are out of season).  Through our partnership with Helpsy, we upcycle about 200,000+ pounds of clothing each year! All upcycled clothing we provide to Helpsy goes directly toward funding our mission of eliminating clothing insecurity and fashion waste.
