How do I qualify for services/clothing?

We provide clothing for all needs from casual to professional, and even fancy clothes for proms! The primary way most people come to us for clothing assistance is through one of our 150+ Community Partners. If you are involved with a social service provider – such as CareerLink for job searching – or are receiving public assistance or are Formerly Justice Involved, chances are that they can refer you directly for clothing at no cost.

If you are not connected to one of Community Partners, The Wardrobe’s doors are still open to you! You can come in and shop or if you can’t afford clothing, visit our website and request an Open Access appointment.

The Wardrobe provides services in person in Philadelphia or Lansdowne, or you can order a Wardrobe Box through an online appointment or by visiting our Wardrobe Box intake centers in Chester or Trevose, PA.

How do I donate clothing?

Thank you for cleaning out your closets to help someone else make a great first impression during their job search or have good quality clothing to wear everyday. The Wardrobe takes just about all adult clothing, accessories, and footwear, but we do ask that clothing be in good condition, a current style, and in season (i.e. can be worn the day it’s donated!). Please review our clothing donation guidelines for the most current information.

For small donations (5 bags/boxes or less), you can drop off your items any Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday from 11am-5pm at The Wardrobe in Philadelphia (413 N. 4th St.) or Lansdowne (62 W. Marshall Road). In order to focus our attention on our clients, we ask that you unload your donations in the carts provided at our locations. Please scan our Donation QR code at the door, take a donation receipt to return, or fill out a donation form online before or after for your tax receipt.

For larger donations or to coordinate a clothing drive, we can assist you in making an appointment. We can only offer pickup services through our inventory partner, Helpsy, to companies at this time. But private home pickup may be coming in the future! To set up a large donation drop-off of over 5 bags/boxes, or to coordinate a clothing drive, please email drives@wardrobepa.org.

You can also mail your donation! Fill a box and ship your donations to The Wardrobe, 444 N. 3rd St. Suite 105, Philadelphia, PA 19123.

Can I volunteer or shop at The Wardrobe?

Yes! Our Philadelphia and Lansdowne locations are open to the public for shopping and volunteering. If you are interested in working directly with our clients, we ask that you sign up for our Volunteer Training. If you just have an afternoon or day to give and want to help us process clothing donations, you can sign up for any open inventory shift!

You can shop in Philadelphia, Lansdowne or online by becoming a Wardrobe Box subscriber or visiting our Poshmark page. Our Wardrobe subscription boxes contain 5 pre-love and fashionable pieces chosen just for you by our expert stylists and arrive on your doorstep quarterly to give a boost to your seasonal wardrobe! And the best part, every Wardrobe Box purchase helps us outfit people in need for free!

How can my organization partner with The Wardrobe?

We love our partners! We work with a large cross section of nonprofit, corporate, and government partners to reach people in need of clothing for work or everyday life. We also welcome organizations to conduct clothing drives or events to benefit The Wardrobe. Every $50 we raise allows us to outfit another person in need at no cost to them!
